What is blying?

Blying is saying something that the bliar believes to be true in the face of compelling evidence to the contrary. It is essentially brainwashing yourself first and then perpetrating what would otherwise have been a lie: belief + lying = blying.

In the Seinfeld episode "The Beard" the George character tells Jerry, "It is not a lie if you believe it."

“…as I worked closely with President Bush, I would come to believe that sometimes he convinces himself to believe what suits his needs at the moment. It is not unlike a witness in court who does not want to implicate himself in wrongdoing, but is also concerned about perjuring himself.” – Scott McClellan, What Happened, page 49

"Studying George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan caused me to invent the word blying. Yet, now I think that blying is probably more common and worse than lying." - Theodore T. Allen

Possible ideas: biggest bliar of the year
There is always the question about maintaining websites and keeping up enthusiasm. My thinking is that I might shoot for bliar of the year and blie of the year. If any ideas come to readers, I am interested.

Why a web site about blying?
The truth is there is no real reason. I just think blying is important and wonder if it can enter into our living language. Best wishes. Ted Allen
